Lanzarote is a paradise for watersports with warm Atlantic waters where water temperatures rarely going below 19 degrees Celsius. The ideal time to enjoy watersports is between December to January, but with beautiful and serene waters around Lanzarote, anytime of the year is going to be enjoyable. The various water sports one can enjoy are:

Excursions Lanzarote

Surf

The Canary Islands and Lanzarote in particular is popularly known as Hawai of the Atlantic because of the huge and best waves surrounded by volcanic backdrop. There is also the famed 6* La Santa Pro ASP Championship at San Juan beach every year.

Kite surfing

Kite Surfing is another popular watersport in Lanzarote all year round, but more regular in summers. The wind, waves and sea temperatures are perfect and is easy to learn when compared to wind surfing and surfing. Famara Beach is a popular destination if you want to kitesurf with beautiful landscape around Famara. The other kitesurf spots are Playa Honda, Costa Teguise, Los Charcos, Arrieta beach, Matagorda beach and Jameos del Agua. Famara is an ideal place to look for accommodation and then hop around the different beaches around the area.

Wind surf

Wind Surfing is popular in Las Cucharas since it has excellent facilities and waters. PWA World Cup is also held every year. One can also learn to windsurf in various Wind Surf schools in Las Cucharas. You can hire or buy the windsurf equipment and also look for accommodation near the beach.

Sailing

The trade winds along the coast of Lanzarote provide ideal conditions for sailing. It is also easy to learn, many clubs and organizations hold courses and let you hire equipment for the same .All you need is to charter a Yacht and set sailing.

Snorkeling

Snorkeling is a great way to see the marine life in Lanzarote if you are a complete novice or you fancy learning how to snorkel before diving.

Swimming - Many visitors love to swim in the beautiful , crystal clear, serene waters of the Atlantic and have ‘European Blue Flag’ standard, with lifeguards to help. But make sure you are well aware of the area, rocks and if they are any Jellyfish or any such sea animal you should be aware of.

Scuba diving

Scuba diving in the volcanic and aquatically rich waters is very exciting. Puerto Del Carmen is a popular spot to look at many sunken shipwrecks which now inhabited by marine life. One can spot common rays, cow nose rays and angel sharks. There are fully experienced instructors who train beginners well and comfortable with experienced divers.

Fishing

Fishing is also popular with tourists, one can charter fully equipped boats. The main catches are Dorado, Tuna, Blue Marlin and Wahoo.

Parascending

Parascending or parasailing is another adventure sport actively enjoyed in Lanzarote where a person is towed behind a boat by a tow rope. Parascending and Jet skiing are offered at major resorts.

Submarine Safaris

If you’re not comfortable with getting wet, then this is for you. Get into a mini-submarine and enjoy the marine life at the bottom of the ocean. The submarines are fully equipped and highly sophisticated with TV monitors with various angle viewings for tourists. The submarine tour starts from Puerto Calero marina.

Marine Excursions  

Marine excursions give you an opportunity to look at the marine life like a pirate on a catamaran. Whale watching is the main attraction in this excursion. Most hotels help you make bookings for such excursions for both the northern and southern coasts.
